Some celebrities found fame in a fluke accident, others found it because they worked very hard at their particular craft and became well known because they were either the best of the best, or they had something very unique, special, endearing, or odd about them.
For Donald Trump, his fortune and business sense sure did make him more money than he already had, but if it wasn’t for his awful hair and his outlandish personality, there’s no way he would have the sort of fame and celebrity status he holds today.
Fame is a fickle game. You have it for an instant, but there’s a reason people talk about the cliche “15 minutes of fame”. You had it, you loved it, if you don’t do something to keep it, it will be gone as quickly as it came. The celebrities who keep their fame are the ones who know how to play the fame game. However, just because you’re famous, it doesn’t mean you’re automatically fulfilled in life.
When fame isn’t enough, what do celebrities do with their time? Well, they do a myriad of things.
They Start Clothing Lines and Jewelry Lines
Though celebs do a host of different things to earn money and keep their fame, one of the most popular things that they do is start clothing and jewelry lines. Don’t believe it? For starters, there’s Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Avril Lavigne, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jordan, Michael Kors, Joan Rivers, Kim Kardashian, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Jessica Simpson, Hilary Duff, and basically every other celebrity you know. The list doesn’t end.
As if the career paths they work/worked in didn’t give them enough, they started fashion lines because they needed to keep the income coming in and they needed to keep their names out there. Their name is the product. Plaster it on anything and it will sell.
They Ditch it Altogether and Follow Other Passions
Sometimes what a person did that made them famous doesn’t actually make them happy. When this is the case, celebrities will often ditch their prior life all-together and follow other passions. They might join forces with another business, they might create something all their own, they might open a restaurant, they might not have to work for the rest of their lives and just spend their time golfing in the Caribbean.
Hugh Grant is known to hate the world of acting. He comes back to it every once in awhile, but now he’s focusing on being a father. Steve Martin, the comedy and acting legend had switched his sights to writing bluegrass music for Broadway shows…whatever works.
